Multicultural Donor Awareness Month

August is National Multicultural Donor Awareness Month
Sierra Donor Services Eye Bank joins the national effort this August to recognize National Multicultural Donor Awareness Month, honoring the diverse donors and families who save lives through organ, eye and tissue donation—and raising awareness about the need in multicultural communities.

It has been almost 9 years since Tracee’s husband, James, saved lives as a donor hero.
In life, James was a beloved husband, father, brother, friend and a generous and kind man.
For Tracee, James’ decision to be an organ donor meant the world to her, knowing that he was selfless enough to think of others as his final act. James lived life to the fullest and wanted others to have the same opportunity. The pink dot on his driver’s license symbolized his commitment to being a donor, a choice he discussed passionately. This decision ensures that his life and legacy continue to inspire and impact others.
Now, she is even more intentional about encouraging communities of color to become donors and highlighting the lives that can be changed by saying YES to donation.
“Spencer was a mother, daughter, sister, and US Marine. She believed in leaving the earth a bit better than she found it.”

How you can help
Whether you are Hispanic, Native American, Black, Asian, or multiracial—you can save lives. Here’s how to make an impact:
✅Register as a donor online or when you renew your license.
✅Talk to your family about your decision.
✅Share your story to inspire others in your community.
✅Follow and share Sierra Donor Services Eye Bank on social media.
If you are a person of color, you can help your community. Now is the time to register as a donor and share your decision with others. Sierra Donor Services Eye Bank encourages everyone to have the conversation and consider registering as a donor. A simple “yes” can bring hope and healing to someone in need.
