EBAA Annual Meeting
Every year, the Eye Bank Association of America hosts an Annual Meeting for all eye banking professionals to attend. Our team is proud to attend this yearly meeting that features dynamic workshops, concurrent sessions and opportunities to network with other donation and transplantation professionals from around the world.
It was a special year for our organization as we were able to commemorate Dr. Jennifer Li, our co-medical director, on her years of service as Chair of EBAA. Dr. Li is dedicated to improving eye banking standards and has served on multiple committees for EBAA. We are extremely proud of all her accomplishments and look forward to continuing to support her and her team at UC Davis
The annual meeting kicked off with a Leadership Workshop and our team was enlightened as we explored the Art of Happiness. We then broke into session and Sam Ramos, our executive director, was on the panel for “The Current and Future Outlook for OPOs.” He focused on our collaboration with DCI Donor Services and the benefits of having a strong relationship with OPOs. We ended the day with a team dinner bringing together members of our Tennessee and California offices.
The next day we learned the new theme of Eye Donation Month is “We Can See Clearly Now.” It was revealed with the hit song “I Can See Clearly Now” by Jimmy Cliff. Our team then attended the social gathering of that evening at No Other Pub where we were able to bond as a team and watch a live concert on the patio.
Day three began with a keynote address about happiness. Alyssa Hernandez, Director of Marketing and Development had the privilege of moderating a panel on thriving in a multi-generational workplace. The discussion emphasized the importance of embracing diversity and tapping into the unique strengths of each team member.
The day ended with the Annual Dinner and Awards Program where Dr. Li was recognized for her dedication to EBAA as Chair.
We are very proud to be members of the EBAA and look forward to this event every year. Next year, we are excited to attended in San Diego!
