Cornea Society Fellows Educational Summit
We were honored to host the 2025 Cornea Society Fellows Educational Summit at our Nashville, TN office on Saturday, October 4th. There were 46 fellows in attendance from all over the U.S. gaining hands-on exposure to various techniques for performing DSAEK and DMEK surgery and practicing advanced suturing techniques for intraocular lenses, iris defects, and corneal trauma.
The sessions were guided by a distinguished group of cornea experts, providing guidance on the various inserters presented. Learning these new techniques is very important for the Fellows as they will take this knowledge with them when they begin their independent clinical practice next year.

The attendees also learned about modern eye banking and the relationship between physicians and eye banks from a panel of experts including our Eye Bank CEO, Samuel Ramos and Co-Medical Director Jennifer Li, MD from UC Davis Eye Center.
Corneal transplantation is unique in that the cornea is a gift that was donated from a donor and eye banks play a crucial role working alongside physicians to maximize the gift of sight. The services provided by the eye bank are critical to the entire process of corneal transplantation and patient wellbeing.

It was amazing to see our facility transformed into wet lab spaces where Fellows could learn and congregate. Thank you to Cornea Society for the opportunity to host this impactful event, alongside our incredible co-hosts Eversight, and Lions World Vision Institute.
