We were honored to work with Dr. Denny and his Chief Resident, Dr. Sarah Eppley at CPMC’s Lion’s Eye Foundation (LEF) Clinic. LEF’s mission is to preserve and restore the gift of sight by providing free ophthalmic examinations, operations, and medication to the less fortunate members of our community. They serve the residents of Northern California and the entire state of Nevada requiring eye surgeries.
Our team came in to demonstrate a DMEK peel to show how we prepare the tissue for physicians to give the gift of sight. Using that tissue, we loaded it into a LEITR glass cannula pre-loader and each physician was able to practice preparing it for surgery. After, we prepared a whole eye so they could emulate surgery and practice dislodging the tissue like they would in surgery.
We are excited to expand our partnership with Dr. Denny and LEF and look forward to hosting the residents in Sacramento to show our facility and everything we have to offer as their local eye bank.
